I’ve already signed up. What do I do now?

After signing up, you’ll need to verify your email by clicking the link that we’ll send you. You’ll be able to schedule your first lesson for the 7-day period via this link. At the same time, you’ll also receive an email with some instructions.

Prior to your session, your teacher will add you on Skype.  If you prefer to use Zoom as video conferencing software, please indicate it on your booking.

The 7-day trial week consists of a 30-minute lesson every day.

Technically, what do I need in order to take the trial week, or further lessons?

To take the trial week or further lessons, all you’ll need is the following:

1) A good internet connection.

2) A Skype or Zoom account. If you don’t have one, it’s easy and free to create an account – just go to Skype.com or Zoom.us If you don’t want to set up Skype or Zoom before the trial session, you can ask for a ‘guest link’ so that you can take the trial via your internet browser.

3) A laptop, tablet or smartphone. Most learners find that the speakers and microphone on their devices are sufficient. However, occasionally students choose to use headphones with a microphone in order to enhance the sound quality or to avoid background noise.

Can you tell me more about the free trial week?

The trial week will be mainly focused on evaluating your goals, needs, and skills, and may contain some language teaching. During these 30-minute lessons, you’ll be able to practice your Spanish so that your teacher can assess your level. If you’re a beginner, we’ll use English as a bridge language.

We’ll personalize your learning experience by filling out your language profile and answering questions like:

-What learning methods have you tried before?
-What is your current level of proficiency?
-What are you looking for in your language teacher?
-What is your motivation to learn Spanish?

The majority of your customized learning will be activated when you officially enroll in our school.

The Free Trial Week is only available to first time students, and is limited to 3 lessons (30-Minute sessions). You can enjoy your free sessions within one week period.

When do I enroll in your school?

If you have already taken your trial week, you can move ahead by selecting a plan and enrolling in our school. This will allow you to schedule more lessons

Who selects my teacher (s)?

One thing we’d like to point out is that we’re not an endless tutor directory. We are an ONLINE SPANISH SCHOOL, and that means that all our teachers follow the same methodology and that learning quality is guaranteed. We’ll guide you every step of the way.

You will be matched with the best teacher based on the information you provide (age, variety of Spanish, location, etc.) and on your proficiency. However, if for some reason you feel that your teacher isn’t suitable, please email support@aprendehablando.com explaining why the match isn’t quite right. Our class coordinator will be glad to recommend you other teachers.

Can I have more than one teacher?

Sure, although we recommend you not have more than 1-2. Your teacher(s) need to understand how they can best personalize your learning experience by getting to know your needs, goals and proficiency. Your teacher will also be your coach, so it’s really important to establish a great connection between both in order to build a relationship.

Did you know that memories involved with emotions are more likely to become fixed in the long-term memory? This shows the importance for teacher and student to empathize and connect.

How do I schedule my lessons?

Once you activate your free trial week or enroll in our school, you will have access to the booking page.

How far in advance can I book my sessions?

We currently allow students to book up to 10 days in advance. This is to avoid a small percentage of students overbooking spots with teachers ahead of time, and gives everyone an equal opportunity to find open slots when their teachers are available.

Do the lessons always need to be scheduled at the same time?

We are aware of how busy you probably are, so one day you might prefer to book at 6pm but another day at 1pm. And that’s fine as long it works for you.  However, our experience says that in order to be constant and to build a habit it’s better to always schedule your lessons at the same time.

How many lessons should I be booking?

There’s no right or wrong answer here.

One thing we want to highlight is that learning consistency is 10 times more important than learning frequency. Students that connect consistently 2-3 times per week have much faster and more effective results than students that jump into the deep end by booking 6 lessons the first week, 2 lessons the following one, and not a single one the next.

When are teachers available for lessons?

Our mission is to empower students to learn any time of the day, any day of the week.

Having teachers in different countries lets us offer an extensive schedule, covering areas as follows:

London Time from 6 am to 3 am

Eastern Time from 6 am to 11 pm

SCHEDULING

SCHEDULING

How do I schedule my lessons?

Once you activate your free trial week or enroll in our school, you will have access to the booking page.

Will I get reminders before my lessons?

Yes! You will get 2 reminders before your lesson starts:

1) 24 hours before your lesson

2) 2 hours before your lesson

How do I see my upcoming sessions?

We recommend that you save your scheduled lessons on your favorite calendar (Google, iCalendar, Outlook) so that you don’t forget about your lessons.

You will also receive 2 reminders before your lesson starts (24 hours and 2 hours beforehand).

How far in advance can I book my sessions?

We currently allow students to book up to 10 days in advance. This is to avoid a small percentage of students overbooking spots with teachers ahead of time, and gives everyone an equal opportunity to find open slots when their teachers are available.

Same-day bookings are also allowed.

How do I reschedule or cancel upcoming sessions with my teacher?

1) Go to the confirmation email or any of the reminders you received upon booking your lesson(s). Click on the Reply, Change or Cancel button within the email and you will be taken to the rescheduling/cancellation page.

2) If you used the ‘Add to calendar’ option after booking your lesson, you can go to the lesson in your Google/Outlook/iCal calendar. Click on it and open the link in your browser to access the rescheduling/cancellation page.

If you lost the email and did not add the lesson to your calendar, you can contact your teacher to request the change. However, note that emailing or skyping your teacher for rescheduling/cancellation is not recommended as the email may not be seen in time to allow your request.

Can I reschedule or cancel my lesson just a few hours before?

We allow students to cancel or reschedule their lessons whenever. However, we kindly ask you to do it only when something unexpected comes up and not as a common or recurring practice. If you cancel your lesson at least 24 hours before, it is more probable that another student can book that time slot.

No shows  is considered a forfeited lesson.

What should I do if I can’t find available teachers around my schedule?

No te preocupes, amig@. This can sometimes happen when there is an imbalance between teachers and students. If this happens, please email us at support@aprendehablando.com and we’ll fix it.

OUR METHOD

OUR METHOD

What makes your method so special?

Our strength is to offer comprehensive training in Spanish. We are not an endless tutor directory without academic guidance nor a learning language software. We are a Spanish School. Sí, una Escuela de español. And we guarantee results through our 1-on-1 method in which you are able to use the language much more quickly than when studying in a classroom.

Once you enroll in Aprende Hablando, our academic coordinator will create a custom curriculum and set realistic goals for you. Your teacher(s) will also follow a structured and communicative approach. They will help you move from studying the language to living the language through interactive classes designed to build confidence and help you learn, using your virtual classroom and apps like Memrise or News in Slow Spanish.

Oral interaction must be the key goal when learning a language, so conversations and practical situations are essential in our method since that is what learning to speak a foreign language is all about. Speaking is by far the most important part of developing your language skills.

Feedback will help you monitor your progress, focus on areas of difficulty and stay motivated as you learn. Your teacher will complete an evaluation based upon cumulative lesson data every 3 months so you can keep track of your progress each step of the way.

Studying in our 1-on-1 method means you are able to use the language much more quickly than when studying in a classroom.

Does Aprende Hablando work for beginners?

Sure! Our Online Spanish School will work for you, whether you’re already an advanced learner or a total beginner. In fact, 75% of learners start out as complete beginners and move quickly to the next level!

We offer a complete curriculum that takes you from zero knowledge to advanced proficiency. We personalize your learning experience by getting to know you: your goals and needs, your learning style, your motivations and other factors involved in the learning process.

Be relaxed as all our explanations for beginners are clear in English and Spanish and your teacher(s) will make you feel relaxed and confident.

We are aware that all learners are different – in their backgrounds, in their learning environments and in their learning goals. That means that not all students learn equally. Whoever you are, we’ll adapt to you.

How much time do I need to dedicate to learn?

We need to differentiate between input and output learning:

INPUT LEARNING. It is the time you spend listening to the radio or podcasts in Spanish, learning with Duolingo, watching Spanish Netflix series or Youtube videos, using News in Slow Spanish or Memrise, following Facebook pages or groups in Spanish, etc.

We estimate that the minimum time you need to spend is 4 hours/week.

OUTPUT LEARNING. It is the time you spend putting into practice things you learned or memorized, as when you talk with your teacher, meet native speakers, write an email or post in Spanish on a Facebook group or page. Output learning is about finding practical situations to apply knowledge gained.

We also estimate that the minimum time you need to spend is 3 hours/week.

It is crucial to balance your learning pattern between them. So ideal learning time to get results in a short period ranges from 7 to 20 hours a week. The more time you dedicate the more results you will see sooner.

What do you mean by guarantee?

We can’t promise that you will be conversationally fluent in 1 month with only 5 minutes of work a day. That’s not realistic. However, we guarantee that if you are a Spanish beginner student you will be conversationally fluent in less than a year. And if you’re an intermediate student you’ll be advanced fluent in Spanish in 12 months. This is our commitment.

If you don’t reach that proficiency within one year we’ll give you free 1-on-1 lessons during three months to reach it. But you need to learn at least 4 hours a week (input+output )

Do you follow any proficiency guideline?

Aprende Hablando language proficiency levels are based on the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) and the ACTFL (American Council on The Teaching of Foreign Languages) system of evaluations. Each level has specific criteria and detailed descriptions for each of the communicative skills so that you have detailed information on which level you are in each skill.

Which variety of Spanish do you teach?

Although we are based in Spain, our teachers come from different Spanish-speaking countries. We teach standard Spanish to beginner and intermediate students, and we adapt the vocabulary and other differences to the variety you wish to learn.

Do the teachers speak English?

Our teachers speak English well and will make you feel relaxed and confident.

Are your teachers qualified?

Our teachers have been selected on the basis of academic excellence, professionalism, and experience in teaching Spanish in order to guarantee the best results. They have a Master degree or specific education in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language, as well as continuous training by the Instituto Cervantes.

They also speak English well and will make you feel relaxed and confident, even if you are a complete beginner.

They are not only teachers, but coaches that will guide you in your learning process to make the most of your learning.

Can I get a certificate of my proficiency level from Aprende Hablando?

We can evaluate your skills and give you a certificate of your proficiency level. Remember that this is a non official document and that if you need an official certificate, you’ll need to prepare for the DELE or SIELE exams.

PLANS AND POLICIES

PLANS AND POLICIES

How will I be billed?

Whatever plan you choose, you’ll be billed on a monthly basis.

Yearly Plans also need one month deposit. However, the last month is not charged.

What will happen if my plan runs out?

We do not do automatic renewals. We consider it to be a bad practice. When your plan runs out you will NOT be billed for another term unless you express your desire to continue. You will be asked beforehand and if you want to continue we will renew your plan.

Can I pause or hold my lessons?

Yes! You can decide to take some time off if you know that you’ll be away on vacation, busy with work projects, studying for exams, etc. Students can pause their lessons for 1 week up to 1 month. You just need to notify us first by emailing us at support@aprendehablando.com

Can I book more than 30 minutes or 60 minutes?

If you want to book more than 30 minutes per day, you need to change into the 60 minutes plan. And if you are in the 60 minutes plan and wish to schedule more lessons per day, you can do it by adding lessons. We kindly ask you to notify us by previously sending us an email to support@aprendehablando.com

Cost for each 30 minute added lesson is $10 and each 60 minute added lesson is $15

At the end of the month, we will tally the number of additional lessons booked, and charge the extra fee via Paypal.

If I enroll and I ultimately decide not to continue, what will happen?

If for whatever reason you are not satisfied or just decide not to continue, you will receive your money back —if you didn’t attend more than 1 lesson (excluding the trial)—.

This applies only for the first week after your enrollment.

Why are the plans in US Dollars?

Although we are based in Spain, we have students from many countries around the world, and the US Dollar is the most widely-accepted currency. But don’t worry, amig@! You can purchase your plan with any debit or credit card, no matter where you live, and your bank will automatically convert the USD to your local currency at the market rate.
